Medusa lamp shade
Project type: exhibition prototype
Materials: polypropylene
Date: 2015
A project required to design of a lighting product from a single sheet of polypropylene (1100 x 650 x 1 mm). The material is not suitable to be glued, therefore alternative ways to fold, bend and join separate parts together had to be investigated. The final design was born through experiments with material and form-making, taking inspiration from paper-folding techniques. The light shade is constructed with two pieces of laser-cut polypropylene. All parts are tied together with a rope of the same material.
